48 hours, over 20 restaurants, 10 Michelin Stars

July 1st, 2014

At midday on Tuesday 24th June 2014, L20 Hotel School Sous Chef Anthony Wright, joined 5 teams of chefs and foodies in Cumbria. Their mission? To see which team could dine in the most high quality restaurants in 48 hours as part of the Visionary Dining Cannonball Run 2014.

The Cannonball Run, now in its third year, is the brainchild of Visionary Dining Managing Director Gordon Cartwright.

Over the course of the hectic 48 hours, Anthony and his group travelled non stop, dropping into some of the country’s leading restaurants at all hours including The Bingham in Richmond and Brocken Cote Hall in Kidderminster, to sample and rate dishes before jumping back in their car to dash off to the next restaurant.

Speaking after the epic gourmet tour, Anthony said: “In total we visited 25 establishments of which 10 had Michelin stars. I believe at the L20 Hotel School Restaurant we are already serving exciting and innovative dishes, but the Cannonball Run 2014 has really opened my eyes to the culinary activities of the country’s leading chefs. We will definitely be incorporating some of the dished I sampled in to our menu over the coming months and with a bit of luck we will be one of the restaurants on the Cannonball Run route for 2015.”

Rob Graham, L20 Hotel School General Manager, added: “The reputation of the Liverpool food scene is growing every day. Having three chefs from the region on the Cannonball Run 2014 sampling some of the UK’s most exquisite food will only fuel this evolution.”

Marcus Magee, General Manager of the Liverpool Hilton, added: “The L20 Hotel School is less than one year old and this is just another great example of their vision and proactive approach in raising the profile of the Liverpool City Region Hotel and Catering industry.”
